In Hoover, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Alabama vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–7 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Pratt Mobile Mechanic at (205) 567-2714; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
On Google it holds a rating of 5.0 out of 5 from 32 reviews, which is a strong result for a mechanic in Hoover and suggests consistent service.

My car blew a brake line on our way to vacation on a Sunday evening. Thankfully, we were super close to Ben. He got to us within 10 minutes of calling him. He was super friendly and knowledgeable of the issue. Sadly, a part was needed from the dealership so he wasn’t able to fix it. He was still great, and I would recommend him to anyone needing a good friendly mechanic!!!

Will definitely call Ben when I need more work done. We set up an appointment time. He messaged the day of the appointment to make sure nothing had changed then again to let me know he was on his way. He has a great personality and was very professional. He got in there and knocked out the job quickly. I am very pleased with how smoothly everything went. Highly recommend Ben!!!

While traveling, one of the worst fears is to hear a strange noise out of nowhere, come from your vehicle. That coupled with a flashing engine light and sputtering acceleration left me and my family frantically searching Google for a nearby mechanic. Finding Pratt's Mobile Mechanic listing was a lifesaver. In less than 20 minutes, he was at our location, diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes, got the part (a #5 ignition coil) and had us back on the road in less than 2hrs total time. He was honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The whole interaction felt like an old friend had stopped to help us out. I would highly recommend Mr. Pratt and would not hesistate to give him a call again.

Mr Pratt was a life saver for me! He was very honest and upfront about everything, and did exactly what he promised to do. I want to also mention that if there is anything that he is unable to do he will be honest about that as well and not just do it anyway. He runs a very honest business and he wants to help anyone he can. He is highly recommended by me for sure!!! If you need anything at all, try to call him first he’s very very fair on pricing and does a thorough and accurate job.
